The full universal ride guide for people who are scared of amusement park rides.
Me and my boyfriend have visited Singapore Universal theme park lately (June 2024).
My boyfriend is pretty scared of any thrill rides, especially anything to do with heights, speeds or rapid turns.
It has happened to us before in a different park that we went on a ride that looked for kids – but it turned out to be really intense, and he couldn’t go on anything ever since. So this time I was looking for a guide to tell us what is scary and what not, but I couldn’t find any. So after I went on every ride (and he went on some) I have decided to put up this guide for my fellow ride anxious-people out there.
Generally I would say universal Singapore is less scary than other parks. My boyfriend could go on 9 out of the 15 rides, while usually in other parks he can only go on a few rides if any.
1. Magic Potion Spin
Scare level: 0/10
It’s a Giant Ferris Wheel, but it is not giant, it’s really small, and it’s inside of a store, and the carts are all closed, so nothing to worry here.
Location: Far Far Away in the potion store
2. Lights, Camera, Action!:
Scare level: 0/10
This is a show, not even a ride. You’ll be standing on solid ground looking at a little fire and explosion effects. If you’re extra scared go to the third row – nothing will get you there.
Location: New York City
3. Treasure Hunters
Scare level: 0/10
Just ride along in little cars, no speed no drops, just a chill slow ride.
Location: Ancient Egypt
4. Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase
Scare level: 1/10
This is an inside coaster, which might look a little scary at first. But don’t worry at all – it’s a slow and steady ride, with no sudden accelerations or drops. You just ride there in a steady pace and watch the puppet show.
Location: New York City
5. Dino-Soarin’
Scare level: 2/10
A little merry-go-round in which you control how high you want your dinosaur cart to go – so if you feel scared, you can stay near the floor. Also, the ride is only 3 meters high, so you can’t go that high if you wanted to.
Location: The Lost World
6. Shrek 4-D Adventure
Scare level: 2/10
This is a 4D movie – some moving chairs, and some water and wind effects. The chairs don’t go high or anything, it’s just their back rest that shakes a little. Some movement might be fast or sudden, but nothing to get scared about, and you can always get up and leave.

7. Accelerator
Scare level: 3/10
This is just a little tea cup spinner with a little intimidating sci-fi theme, and generally it’s not a very fast one compared to other parks.
It is also starting slow and speeds up slowly letting you build some comfort. I suggest you not to eat anything like an hour before you go there, because it’s very nausea inducing.
Location: Sci-Fi city
8. Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure
Scare level: 4/10
This is mostly tame, you just ride along in nice water, getting a little more turbulent in the middle, but nothing too bad – just a little wavy. There is one big drop in the end – around 1.5 meter high, it’s only a quick second, but be ready for it. Also – you will get soaked.

9. Transformers The Ride: The Ultimate 3D Battle
Scare level: 5/10
This might be a little controversial – some people would say this should be higher on the list, yet I found it quite not scary, this was the scariest ride my boyfriend did go on. It is an indoor coaster, with a 3d cinematic experience of a battle with the transformers. The ride does move and shakes, but it doesn’t have heights, or wild turns or high speeds. The most speedy parts are just simulated with the movie, some fake wind and a little tilting of the cart.
Plus, this ride is quite long and a very unique experience and great value, so I do recommend you to try it if you could handle the last one.
Location: Sci-Fi city
10. Puss In Boots’ Giant Journey
Scare level: 6/10
I put this one higher on the list than the Transformers ride, because there are actual heights and drops in here, 3 quick drops to be exact. The ride is mostly tame and a story-telling coaster, but consider if you can handle these 3 drops.
Location: Far Far Away
11. Canopy Flyer
Scare level: 6.5/10
This is a very mid-level coaster, it is scarier than the last one, much less scary than the next one. It is quite high and for some parts it is fast. Also, you might be sitting with your back to the riding direction, which makes it a little scarier.
Location: The Lost World
12. Enchanted Airways
Scare level: 8.5/10
This one is incredibly deceiving. Looking at it you might think this is just a little kids coaster, they say it’s family friendly, yet we suggest you go below it to hear the screams of the other riders. The only redeeming quality it has is that it is short, but from the beginning to the end this coaster was 2 full minutes of just screams for me.

13. Revenge of the Mummy
Scare level: 9/10
You can’t see from the outside what is going on in this roller coaster, But trust me – it is very scary. The ride starts quite chill, but then you get crazy high speed drops in full darkness making you scream and beg for it to end.
The only reason it’s not as bad as the next one is that there are no upside down parts, but that might even make you more scared when you’ll realize the only thing holding you from falling off the cart is the waist holder.
Location: Ancient Egypt
14. 15. Battlestar Galactica: Human vs. Cylon
Scare level: 10/10
Those are two different Roller Coasters, and both Are super scary, the human one seems a little less scary than the Cylon. But I couldn’t go on any of these to be honest.
